Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering prepares students to contribute to the effort to create living environments that coexist harmoniously with the natural environment.

Based on this goal, it seeks to help students take on global and regional environmental problems by mastering construction technologies for building social capital that is resistant to disasters such as earthquakes and floods while maintaining harmony with nature, incorporating them into the process of designing a society that can consistently pass on a rich lifestyle and culture to the next generation with a strong sense of responsibility and ethics, while realizing their potential in society.

To realize this goal, the process of studying the constituent fields of construction engineering (structural, hydraulic, ground, planning, material and construction, and environmental considerations) has been structured so that students can move in a systematic manner from introductory courses in which they gain basic knowledge to more advanced, specialized knowledge.

The curriculum also incorporates numerous practical experimental and practicum courses so that the program can offer students not only the specialized knowledge they'll use as civil engineers, but also practical skills they'll be able to use in the real world.
