The Sociology major consists primarily of seminars and special lectures related to systems (sociology), while the Culture Theories major consists primarily of seminars and special lectures related to cultural structures (cultural anthropology and folkloristics), philosophical culture (philosophy and religious studies), and representational culture (art).
Students in both majors are required to take basic courses related to society and culture.
The program is designed to prepare students to work as experts who are skilled at social research and fieldwork in Japan and overseas or as museum curators or journalists with thorough knowledge of the field.
