Legal Practic (professional Degree Program)
The Legal Practice program has a structured curriculum that starts with fundamental subjects and organically progresses to practical legal subjects, including all the things needed to work as a lawyer, judge, or public prosecutor.
The first‐year curriculum emphasizes basic law courses, including constitutional law, civil law, and criminal law, so that students can master basic legal theory while developing an awareness of how the legal profession works.
Starting during the second year of study, classes combine enrollees who have a background in law with those who do not.
The emphasis is on practice, training students to apply the fundamentals mastered in the first year to resolve real‐world issues.
The program focuses on training students without a background in law, since most students lack that background.
Specific initiatives include pre‐enrollment instruction (early study guidance, networking events that introduce students to graduates who are working as attorneys, and pre‐seminars offered through basic law courses), an extensive curriculum for students who are new to the law (small‐group readings of legal precedents, basic seminars on the law, introductions to legal information and documents, etc.), utilization of student cards (academic charts that bring together information about each student, for example scores on regular tests and quizzes), utilization of academic advisors and tutors (young attorneys who offer study support and answer questions about study and student life), and support for taking the National Bar Examination (including an intensive seminar focusing on short‐answer questions in August and “last‐spurt" seminars before the examination to help with dissertations).
In addition, the program works to minimize the distance between instructors and students, and it has adopted a fine‐grained study guidance system that helps instructors more closely meet the needs of individual students.
A program is also available that lets students take the national bar examination while enrolled at the University.
