Graduate School of Humanities

The Graduate School of Humanities, which is administered by the Faculty of Humanities, offers a total of seven programs: History, Japanese Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, German Language and Literature, French Language and Literature, Socio-Cultural Studies, and Education and Clinical Psychology. All of these programs have a master’s degree program, and with the exception of Socio-Cultural Studies, they also include a doctoral program.

The Graduate School offers an educational experience that is designed to cultivate individuals who possess broad perspectives and free and original ways of thinking. It prepares graduates to contribute meaningfully to today’s international and diverse society by embracing and extending the theory and methodology of the humanities, which encompass humans and human society. The master’s degree program and first half of the doctoral degree program foster highly skilled professionals who can meet societal needs and demonstrate strong capabilities, while the second half of the doctoral degree program trains researchers and highly specialized professionals who can conduct original and socially valuable research in their respective fields.
