Social Mathematics Information Technology Institute

The Social Mathematics Information Technology Institute is dedicated to preparing students for careers that involve building social and information systems by fostering their ability to solve and analyze societal problems and to make broad use of mathematical models.

To that end, from their first year they embark on the simultaneous study of basic mathematics, methods for building and analyzing mathematical models, and information theory and technology.

The Institute offers a systematic educational experience in which students study mathematics with an awareness of the purposes for which it will be used and effectively put to use mathematics techniques mastered in specialized fields.

The second two years of the program utilize a practical curriculum in the form of seminars that help students master general skills as they use what they have learned to leverage mathematical models to solve and analyze problems and build information systems to implement effective methods.
