Department of Applied Mathematics

The Department of Applied Mathematics seeks to endow students with an inquiring mind, a spirit to improve oneself, a flexible and creative imagination fostered by the study of mathematics, and the ability to solve a variety of problems faced by society so that they can contribute to its robust development.

To that end, it has designed a curriculum that allows students not only to develop specialized knowledge in mathematics and informatics, but also to undertake a broad study of the natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, and languages.

Through lectures as well as numerous exercises and practicums, along with seminars that are offered starting during the second semester of the third year, the Department seeks to give students logical analysis and thinking skills by studying the theory and application of mathematics and informatics, painstakingly carrying out calculations and proving theorems, and thinking through problems tenaciously while changing their perspective as necessary.
