Fukuoka University Nishijin Hospital

Fukuoka University Nishijin Hospital opened in Nishijin, Sawaraku, Fukuoka, in April 2018 as the third hospital of Fukuoka University.

This hospital has a basic principle of providing caring medicine that earns regional trust and promptly accepts referral patients from local medical institutions. Furthermore, through close cooperation with Fukuoka University Hospital and other highly specialized medical institutions, Fukuoka University Nishijin Hospital is practicing a new form of medical cooperation that plays a bridging role between regional medical care and advanced medical care.

This hospital is centered on internal medicine and is in charge of acute care for heart disease, digestive organs, respiratory organs, and diabetes. Focusing on emergency medical care, the hospital develops seamless medical care in collaboration with other medical institutions and contributes to enhancing the regional medical system.

In addition, the hospital provides comprehensive community care beds to provide rehabilitation for inpatients and create a medical treatment environment to provide care to inpatients from the acute and chronic phases so they can return home.

In June 2022, it became the40th facility in Japan to be designated a cardiac rehabilitation research facility, and it will redouble its rehabilitation efforts going forward.

Furthermore, as an educational facility associated with Fukuoka Universityʼs Faculty of Medicine, the hospital actively accepts practical trainees as well as physicians. The hospital trains them to become high-quality healthcare professionals who will be able to contribute to regional medicine.

In July 2023, the hospital announced its plans to move to a newly built facility at the site of the former Childrenʼs Hospital (in Tojinmachi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka), which is scheduled to open four years from now(spring 2027). The hospital plans to maintain its existing functions at the new site while enhancing its rehabilitation functions and securing sufficient parking space.
