Chemistry (Master's and Doctoral Degree Programs)

The Chemistry program consists of seven majors: Functional Materials Chemistry, in which students conduct research into the creation of functional materials and their functions; Structural and Physical Chemistry, in which students conduct research into a range of physicochemical phenomena; Organic and Biological Chemistry, in which students conduct research into the synthesis of organic compounds and their biochemical functions; Functional Biochemistry, in which students conduct research into the functions of proteins, cells, and biomolecules such as DNA; Nanochemistry, in which students conduct research into the creation of nanoscale materials and their functions; Chemistry Education, in which students develop and research new experimental materials for use in chemistry education; and Elemental Chemistry, in which students research the synthesis and function of substances containing main group elements.

Through inquiry into the field of chemistry, each major strives to prepare students for careers as researchers and professionals with deep chemistry knowledge and research skills.
